Your posture is the "window" to your spine and nervous system. Meaning, any postural distortions are a reflection of the weakened, distorted structure of your spine. Your spinal cord is encased inside your spinal column. The function of your spinal cord is to carry electrical and chemical energy from your brain to all the vital organs, tissues and cells of your body. All of the functions of your body are dependent on that force coming through your spinal cord to be carried through the nerves, giving your body the optimal chance to function at its best! Because of the many different stresses in our lives, (physical, chemical, and emotional) vertebrae in our spine twist out of place. These misalignments are called joint restrictions or subluxations. Subluxations block the nerves energy conduction system to the organs making our bodies sick. If left uncorrected, even for short periods of time, subluxations will weaken and distort your overall posture. Abnormal or weakened posture does not adapt to the continual forces of gravity we all experience in our lives everyday. That is why weakened and distorted spines and spinal cords succomb to the continual and progressive compression and tension trauma from normal gravitational forces. Progressive breakdown of your posture and its affect on your overall health has been extensively documented. Doctors conducting studies at the Shealy Institute, in 1994, have found that posture affects and moderates every physical and mental function of the body. "Spinal pain, blood pressure, headaches, pulse, lung capacity and mood are only a small portion of the body's functions that are most easily infueneced by posture." Freeman was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association stating that "aging in the spinal discs caused postural deviations leading to intestinal diverticula, hemorhoids, varicosities of the legs, osteoporosis, hip and foot problems, overall poor health and quality of life, as well as a shortened life span. Reich, in "The discovery of the Orgone," stated that poor posture-induces tension and leads to decreased blood flow. This decrease in tissue oxygenation is a major factor in ALL disease, including cancer! |
